Just two degrees of separation!!

By a lucky fluke, and the way LJ networks and links people worldwide, I managed to get a rather important (for me) question asked of Terry Pratchett in person; [livejournal.com profile] dreamkin went to a book-signing and asked him for me.

I wanted to know when we will get a map of Überwald, if possible with an inset of Bonk and environs.  He said not yet, he didn't know enough; but at least my request has now reached his brain and might ferment and ripen there in time. That is all I ever wanted.

I am commenting on this post as you might like to know about the [livejournal.com profile] discworld, which does seem to be a shared interest!

Mmmm, Pterry book signings.... He did two here in SoCal last year, one in Pasadena and one in San Diego, and I went to both. Skipped class and drove 300 miles to go both. Terry gave pretty much the same speech at each signing, with slight modifications for location. When in San Diego, for example, he made quips about how Amtrak is so fantastic becuse you can step off, get a cup of coffee, then run and catch up to the train and get on again. (True.)

I posted about the Pasadena signing, which was more fun than San Diego, but unexpectedly ended up being a VERY strange night: http://www.livejournal.com/users/fabulous_papaya/2003/10/08/
