Things that go plopp in my kitchen

I almost thought I had ghosts in my kitchen, like [livejournal.com profile] fabulous_papaya has in her house.

I sometimes heard a strange "plopp" as if some domestic mishap had occured, but there never was anything.

I was just there when it did it again, and I realised that closed empty plastic bottles beside a warm heating duct will produce the effect every time they can...

In other news: I may be a professional database tamer, but a rank amateur in some private IT applications. If anybody can point me to a site that tells me how to make MP3s from CDs, you shall have some chanting Mount Athos monks soon.

It's not really a technique, but requires encoding software. Go to download.com and look for a freeware MP3 encoder ("ripper").

Here:

Find one that you like the features of, d/l it, and go.

Plastic bottles? How curious.

Hey, if you live in Germany, where buildings are generally older than they are in California, you've got a much greater chance of ghosts.

Speaking of kitchens, I've just accidentally pushed a bottle of vanilla extract off the top shelf in the kitchen cupboard, it's exploded all over everything, and the whole place smells FANTASTIC.

Ah, but! It makes people who come over think I am a culinary genius.

I think vanilla has a bad name because it's always associated with plainness. But it isn't plain, just subtle. There's a difference.

Anyway, the way our kitchen smelled after Leftover-Chinese Omelette day, I don't much mind having some vanilla whiffage to cover it up. :)

*wibbles more* ok, now i gather you did not have a tv set as a child. because even though we only had one channel, i sure knew "1, 2 oder 3" and wanted so much to take part in that kid's quiz show with michael schanze. i knew all the answers but worried a bit about having to jump from stage to stage and looking horrid on tv.
plopp!

1, 2 oder 3
