He was a very, very lovely dog. I knew him from a little puppy, when he gnawed on my wristwatch with his little sharp teeth, after the only car accident I have ever been in, I walked straight here (didn't live in the houses here yet, back then) to cuddle the dog and stop shaking, I sometimes went on walks with him, and my Little Lady (=niece) really loved him, when she came to visit.
Last week, while he was already getting worse, I went to visit him almost every day, but not yesterday, as I was rather late coming back from work; but that would already have been too late anyway.
Today, I went down into the cellar to borrow a set of fine screwdrivers, and there was no dog any more, and his collar lay empty in a corner...
