[livejournal.com profile] wiebke and [livejournal.com profile] floppy_hat had this already in German; now Evgeni Sukharnikov, the helpful expert on old St. Petersburg (little does he guess the nefarious purposes of my questions, poor fellow!) sent me an English version of it that is even much better.

Subject: Fw: A TEST OF YOUR MORALITY AND ETHICS

With all your honor and dignity, what would you do?

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought . . .

By giving an honest answer you will be able to test where you stand morally.

The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, where you will have to make a decision one way or the other.
Remember that your answer needs to be honest, but yet spontaneous.

Please scroll down s l o w l y. This is important for the test to work correctly.

You're in Florida . . . In Miami, to be exact . . .

And of course, Evgeni, a very gifted amateur photographer himself, is totally right: THAT is the dilemma which will determine the further fate and career of the notional press photographer in this story, not what the Nazgul's German version had, which is trifling by comparison....

Evgeni, flawless and thorough researcher that he is, has found a source for that joke that is years old, ouch!! It was in the Guardian almost exactly three years back.

And it is still current.

My, but how little the world has changed while it has changed so terribly and beyond recognition...

Huh? What?

My LiveJournal Sitcom
DVD player and fork (ABC, 10:30): yakalskovich (Groucho Marx) convinces cob_web (Patrick Swayze) to learn to speak Tlingit. Soon afterwards, rcfinch (Billy Bob Thornton) marries floppy_hat (Henry Fonda)'s psychiatrist. The week after, vzones (Martin Sheen) hypnotizes tekalynn (Sarah Bernhardt) but it doesn't work. That night, madame_mercredi (Abe Vigoda) and lupercali (Erika Christensen) kiss at an empty warehouse. Also, marchenland (Katherine Heigl) breaks raythoo (Wil Wheaton)'s old 100-meter-dash record, but nobody sees it happen. Presented in HDTV.
What's Your LiveJournal Sitcom? (by rfreebern)

Is that really my life?

This stuff is truly "almost totally, but not quite, entirely unlike" chocolate.

Very weird, but good. My friend Stephan the Japanologist (no link, as his web site is in eternal redesign) recommended it to me a few days ago, and I have been drinking it since. I need a new box of it soon...

Doriath
Your place in Tolkien's Beleriand.

brought to you by Quizilla
The Valar have determined that you will feel the best in the well-protected Kingdom of Doriath under the care of wise Maia Melian. You will enjoy beautiful forests, rivers, and weather, but your King really doesnt like to be argued with.

I'd have liked more Noldor around, but what the heck; Doriath sounds cosy. And that king can't be worse than some rulers we have here, to say nothing of my PHB at work...
