wiebke tends to do these questionnaires that mostly have five questions each of a Friday. It's not
quite Friday yet, except in Australia (the Canberra contingent from the
discworld_rpg are probably starting to get up right now), but she did hers for this week already.
I like it. I think I shall gank it.
It goes:
If you...1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?Japanese soups and noodles - ramen, udon soup, miso soups, perhaps cold soba with menmi sauce in the summer. Green tea with it, perhaps the strange drinks you can get in cans from vendos on every street corner in Japan. Hachimitsu lemon, oh yes! Green tea chocolate! Azuki bean jelly! And perhaps fried ice cream on the weekend - I was reminded of that this morning. I haven't done it for ages, and it's really easy once you know the knack.-
2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?Magic wands and hand-printed t-shirts in small series, together with the Nazgul, who'd do the wands.
3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?I would have said "Fantasy" or "Science Fiction" for pretty much of my life, but it turns out to be a historical novel after all. Firmly grounded in detailed research and devoid of
anything supernatural at all - well, if you discount sex being described in terms of energy, which might sound esoteric to
some for whom it's all just plumbing. Life is strange. It gets at you in unexpected places. I
quite enjoy having been gotten at by Grigori, Felix, Dmitri et al., though.
4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?Examination Training. You know, preparing people for any exam
whatsoever, helping them to find out how to study best, how to fight their nervousness, how to react in oral exams, all those things. I had the idea together with my neighbour Angela and a friend of hers the other night. Everybody is afraid of exams. Knowing how to combat that (and selling the skill) would be tantamount to a license to print money.
5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?Ahm, probably my old poems that my sister set to music ages ago, with her playing the keyboard, the flute and the bagpipes in the background? And it would be a dire punishment to force anybody to listen to it. People would quake in their shoes...
