Weird Up Your Playlist

On Friday, I realised how odd my collection of MP3 was that had accreted on my hard disk; I have been talking to schiarire about it by email, and have decided to make a meme of it. So:

Here are the seven weirdest, oddest and strangest songs from my playlist:

• "Black Sun" from Swedish Death Metal/Classic crossover band Therion
• Monks from Valaam monastery in Lake Ladoga, ner St. Petersburg, chanting.
• Nenes from Okinawa singing their version of "No Woman No Cry" (as downloaded ages ago from canis_m)
• Sukhotin, a totally unknown, recently disbanded Indie band from LA, with their song "Memories". I only ever took notice of them because of their name; I found them googling for it. Sergei (or Ivan, or Alexander) Sukhotin was an officer involved in murdering Rasputin; so little is known about him that sources even disagree on his first name. The singer of that band claims to be an actual descandant of the man; hence, the band name.
• "Brothers In Arms", sung by the fictional monks from the German monk comedy "Vaya Con Dios".
• Alexander Vertinsky singing "Matrosi". Dima, the Russian from Boston, mentioned that Russian singer from the twenties to me a propos of nothing at the Wraeththu convention in Stafford, last October.
• Leslie Fish singing her generic filk "Elfland",  which nicely pokes fun at mundanes that don't get why we're fen, and act superior.

The links will be good for a week; next Sunday, they will expire.

So, download them all you want and weird up your own playlist. And if you've got anything remarkable or exceptional hanging around on your own hard disk, then upload the three, five or seven weirdest or most excentric and post them to your own LJ, thus passing on the meme.

I have used a method ganked from schiarire, which is uploading them at http://www.yousendit.com and sending the email to myself to retrieve the link (which is why the seven day limitation), but you've prolly have got your own near-unlimeited web space. Especially if you're Wiebke or Gabby. Ot the Nazgul, but she doesn't have an LJ and will prolly never get one...
