Instructions for idiots
Nov. 12th, 2005 12:05 pmI'm making ciabatta with pesto rosso and mozzarella, grilled to be really hot and gooey. I like that for a leasurely breakfast type meal on a weekend.
For that, I use cheap ciabatta from ALDI that needs to be baked for a few more minutes to emulate being absolutely fresh.
I mean, traditionally, ALDI is for people who don't have enough money to shop at a proper supermarket with brand name products, but that's really a thing of the past - it's been trendy for almost a decade now, ever since 'ALDIdente' was published. They have weekly special offers of non-food items or speciality food(or both) that are followed with great interest not only by the Metropolitans, the Nazgul, and me. When ALDI sells computers, it's a national event, as their special offers normally set new standards in both affordability and performance.
But they do still seem to think their customers are bloody stupid.
The instruction on the ciabatta package are as follows:
Apart from the part where '200° C - 9 mins' would have been instruction enough and all I wanted to know - 'Take ciabatta from package'?? What?? Do they think anybody is stupid enough to buy a ciabatta and then put it in the oven with its damn plastic wrapping on?
*shakes head*
