More Varia
From the department of Unusual Apparel:
Today, Lady G., my boss' wife, wore all black. She's about sixty, but very stylish and with the looks to carry off almost anything. Black suits her. With this, however, she wore shoes that were the most shocking orange I have ever seen. Every time she went past my door, I almost jumped out of my skin because of that sudden flash of brilliant colour.
From the department of Unusual Botany:
Along the railway tracks the train I have to take to and from work goes along, there's some shrubbery, as is usual with railway tracks. It's just that this shrubbery has twigs that are of a rather vivid red where the sun shines on them, and of a dull green where it doesn't. When the train goes past them at its usual speed, the effect is rather disconcerting: the twigs take on a colour that is both red and green at once, and give off a very strange shimmer.
We have achieved octarine bushes here on Roundworld!
From the department for Political Opinions and Conspiracy Theories:
If you want food for thought about Spain, democracy, and 3/11, go read Telepolis (sorry, only in German; this is for
woelfle,
wiebke,
floppy_hat and
japanologist as well as for the Wayward Frenchman and the Nazgul who I know both read my LJ occasionally despite not having one themselves, eh?). As in any crisis, Telepolis find their true form and are back on their level of Catastrophic High Normal, as after 9/11. Only this time around, they aren't the only critical voice around. Still, they are very good, very on-the-edge, and Bröckers is posting articles there again as well...
From the Personal Department:
I broke a tooth on a piece of bread. One part has come completely loose from the rest, but still hangs on by the gums. I shall not be able to avoid the dentist much longer. It feels decidedly odd.

But I'll check the site out more often now, it looks promising. And for those who don't speak German: It has a little "Enlish" button on the left!
And yay for octarine bushes. Maybe we should send a certain Mr.Bush a certain amount of octarine...

Hei, great idea! What would he do if he turned octarine, though? Would that necessarily make him more sensible? Or would he be so embarrassed that he'd resign on the spot?
:::giggle:::

The latter, I hope!

Networking can't be directed, it's fractal anyway. A hub node is not a leader. And things will happen naturally, so no talk of undermining own purposes.

huh?

Non-year
Re: Non-year
i don't get it anyway. time is running out (ps: that is also a quote from a song by muse)
Christmas spirit
Oh, throw quotes at me, they will whizz harmlessly over my head.
And as for the Christmas spirit: it's a bit early for that. It's still November, not Decemeber.
Re: Christmas spirit
they should hit you!
thank you, you obviously think i am not even aware of the calendari told her the same, but a) spekulatius and lebkuchen have been on sale for weeks and b) in 2 weeks is the first of adventQuotes
Christmas sweets were on sale at the bloody end of August when I was in bloody Berlin - that is no bloody indication for anything, least of all bloody time of year.

I wanna break the spell
a contradiction
I wanna play the game
I want the friction
you will be
the death of me
yeah, you will be
the death of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
our time is running out
and our time is running out
you can't push it underground
we can't stop it screaming out
I wanted freedom
but I'm restricted
now that you know I'm trapped
sense of elation
you'll never dream of breaking this fixation
you will squeeze the life out of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
our time is running out
and our time is running out
you can't push it underground
we can't stop it screaming out
how did it come to this
you will suck the life out of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it

Re: Muse
Musical Muse
I listen to classical music with a smattering of ambient and jazz on Classic Radio if I turn on the radio at all. I like Orthodox religious music, too. Or any monks chanting. I like Russian Gypsy Music, especially Loyko. My favourite jazz artist is Alice Coltrane, and I was overjoyed that she recently published a new record. My CD of the year would be "Quelqu'un m'a dit" by Carla Bruni, which doesn't remotely fit any of those categories.-
you got the hooch
well, i have no idea what i should send you from muse (as in fact i do happen to have something on my hd, which i normally don't). instead of the quoted song i might send you something that a friend of a friend once thought to describe me (neither speak to me though ...) - i will post it in my lj.
Re: you got the hooch
Will listen to the Muse song you yousendited as soon as the mIRC assembly I'm logging is over.
