Non-BPAL scent of the day
Conjure Oils: Freyr
Today, I went to Wiesbaden to see my parents and the Little Lady (the rest follows tomorrow), sitting for hours and hours on the train, so I thought I'd pick a non-fruity scent. The first imp I drew from the bag sounded interesting, even though it's not strictly speaking BPAL, if I'm not mistaken?
I opened the bottle and was hit by the smell of earth and grass and bitter moss and wet stones, but still put the scent on, finding it very male -- and as soon as it touched my skin, there was a lovely, strong note of lily-of-the-valley as well, which I found amazing. This scent is not so much blended as counterpointed, and very descriptive of what that god is about. Another one that's definitely a keeper.
When I got to Wiesbaden and told the Little Lady about the BPAL, she claimed to have heard the name 'Black Phoenix' before, but she might have been bluffing. On the other hand, why not? I'm not the only one who knows people all over the planet, after all. I let her have a sniff of this and that, and she actually liked the Earth Ox quite a lot. I think I may let her have it.-

Freyr is from the older clan of agrarian, peaceful gods. He is sunshine and the rain that encourages the crops to grow. Green grass, sweet sunlight, plowed earth and gentle rain.

But I like the scent.-

I do like this one a lot, though. Wet stones and lily-of-the-valley definitely make an interesting contrast. And I'm only mildly allergic to mould fungi, and nothing else -- so.
What amuses me, though, is that I already 'infected' the Little Lady with the BPAL-ness. She finds the Midwinter's Eve 2005 a bit overly fruity, but likes the Earth Ox. Tomorrow, we'll try yet another one each...
