Well, not all purple, of course. I didn't paint the wall purple because I want to still go on changing colours every so often; instead, I used beige and brown to go with the other permanent features. I think I have finally 'arrived' here and accepted this as my home, or else I wouldn't have painted the wall. It took almost two years, but then, I didn't want to leave the old place, and then I had to see it all torn down or excoriated, and yuppies moving in that all put the same teak outdoor furniture on their shiny new blaconies. But by now, it all looks really nice, and some of them do keep cute dogs, and a little grey cat sometimes wanders the courtyards. So I guess it's all right now, and I can paint my wall and live here.

The curtains are purple as well, and get put up in the Gothic method again. Falk made fun of me because I won't have curtain rods in which the curtains move on little rolls, or rings, or hoops, or something. That sort of curtains is for squares. My curtains are Gothic, and I nail them on. Grmpf!

The cats have got used to the purkleness already. At least they leave cat fluff on the newly purkled divan, and sleep on it, no problem.

Here you get to see the painted wall in almost its entirety, with bonus cats. Actually, painting the wall had a very practical reason in addition to the aesthetic and emotional ones: I was getting fed up by all the various stains and spots that I kept painting over with the original white. My supplies of original white are running out, too. So, if you don't want to keep getting spots off the wall? Cover the entire wall in spots, or at least the part that has them. Of course, that's not the only reason why I only painted that part. I had seen something like that (complete with round corner, but with just one solid colour) at the house of a friend; they had used it to distinguish between eating area and living room, and it looked VERY nice. So I wanted a part-painted wall, with a round corner. It defines the divan area vs. the area where the icons are, with the little table spanning both.

Recently, my weird little black cat has taken to stuffing his toys in my work handbag. I am not taking Binky the Owl to work, though. I think he wants me to remember buying tinned cat food on the way home from work...

I did dye the purple myself because I couldn't find the kind of purple I wanted. They started their existence as a kind of wimpy mauve, as shown in this old post.

Harry's thing has been taking the same little bird off the Christmas tree over and over.

But I guess it makes sense for them.
