Dont't expect me to say anything witty, or anything much at all, because RL is rather demanding at the moment. My sister's renovations are a bottomless pit, but we do have established some planks across it. My brother-in-law and my Little Lady especially are total heroes.-

That means I'm not going to thread much at the moment, either.-

I go home on Monday no matter what because I have to work again on Tuesday. I might still be knackered on Monday and go straight to bed after watching True Blood, or I might go 'Yay finally a chance to thread' and go wild.

But Moist and Urq will still be there after we both have finished what we have to do in RL.

I just started my renovations. I am so excited! Of course the first thing I am doing is -- you guessed it -- putting up bookshelves.

But I am also going for stained concrete floors (cooler and easier to clean when one has putty tats) and painting the house exotic shades of blue and lilac. I wish I were allowed to paint the exterior because I would do something outrageous like lavender.

Oh I will! I have been busy with my E/C comm and with politics (Perry for President *shudders*) so I haven't done as much as I like. But I started on the bookshelves today and am slowly making my way through the rooms.

My rooms are sooo tiny, but they have really clever use of the space so that it doesn't appear cramped or cluttered.

Of course the first thing I need to do is move the 250 books piled on the couch that no one can sit on...

Mine perpetually shed. They are some exotic mix of Persian and Siamese (we have both in the feral colony out back and these are some that I trapped and tamed as kittens). They are black with a thick grey undercoat (Leopold looks like he has pantaloons, which I keep telling him is not terribly masculine -- he's neutered and doesn't care). I vacuum daily and still have fluff in the air.

Remember that scene in North and South when Margaret first walks into the cotton factory?

That's my house!

I must have confused it with something else. There was some TV series with friends and family 'ripped apart by the Civil War', made in the 1980s; I thought that was called North and South? Perhaps it was South and North?

This is about industrialization in England (specifically in Northern England) and the division in the Church of England. Mr. Hale gives up his rectory as he cannot bring himself to accept changes in the Common Prayer Book. He drags his wife and only daughter (the son is in trouble in the Army) to the North and there she meets his first student, Mr. Thornton, the magnate of a cotton factory. Margaret befriends the workers and leads an all-out assault on the cotton manufacturers.

But somehow *music soaring* true love conquers all and workers and oppressors get together and figure out how to make a win/win situation.

Lots of refs to historical fact (bringing Irish laborers in to break the strike).

And one mind-blowing kiss in the last scene!! UNF

They owe you big time! decorating/renovating with kids underfoot is no joke so having an extra adult to fressh one of you to entertain the little blighters while the other grown ups get on with the painting is a boon. I hope they are properly appreciative.

I don't know. I managed to break a corner bench Phia and I had taken apart and reupholstered; when I was putting it back together, a number of dowels in the elderly chipboard decided they couldn't take the strain any more when I was turning the piece around on my own while Phia was summoned to do something else -- on the one hand, had I waited for her, I might have avoided the worst strain on the weak dowels by lifting it together; on the other, it's good only I am a bit Under A Cloud and not Phia as well, as she'd take it far more personally.

Minding Jón, on the other hand, is an unmitigated pleasure. Especially as he's fast asleep, Sphinx and Markus have gone for a walk, the older three kids have left for my parents' place, the dishwasher is going and I have the first peaceful moment I don't need for sleeping since Tuesday.

I love those kids to bits, especially Phia and Jón, but I'm really glad I have no family like that permanently...

I think you're very wise. Jen was involved in a car accident today. No harm done thank god, but I've abandoned writing for today. Kids do take up SO MUCH of ones brainwidth.
