Oh hai Disc people -- here is what PTerry was on about in 'The Truth' and 'Going Postal' (apart from parodying modern conditions).

Article is in German -- I bunged it in Google Translate for the link. Sorry for the occasional mess they make of things.-

Oh, this is interesting. Things were changing so quickly in that era. Have you read the books by Frances Hardinge, Fly By Night and Fly Trap? They're also about these early changes and the power of names and things like that. I highly recommend them.

It would be fascinating to read. Historical novels are one of my favorite genres and something I'd love to write. Though I'd have a hard time choosing an era as they're all fascinating.

Yup, I've studied some history but its an era I don't know a huge amount about. I'd love to read anything you end up writing.

And research is always interesting. My favorite part of my job is when I get to help with some serious research and learn something along the way.

When Borders was going out of business, I picked up a lot of nonfiction books, the majority of them about the Civil War but some on other topics.

That makes sense. I just love collecting and reading since there's so much out there.
