OH! I am so happy! One of the people who adopted a kitten from called (she is moving to Guatemala next week and needed his rabies certificate and it was still under my name so they wouldn't release it without my permission) and she said he was the BEST.CAT.EVER!!!!

I am so pleased! This is the second call I have had this month to tell me how happy they are with their feral kitten. <3

Well, after you're through with them, I doubt the kittens are feral as such any longer. They're cute and civilised colourpoint cats.

It's funny cuz the feral cats are CRAZY! I tried to catch one to take her to the vet and she turned my arm into hamburger meat. :(

But the kittens are all okay. A little skitterish, but on the whole very, very sane. Which just proves it is environmental and not bad brains.

Definitely environmental! Cats are adaptable, too. They know which side the bread is buttered on, so to speak. Or where the tuna comes from...

Even the wild cats will come to my house to eat! They won't let me near them, but they lurrrrrve tuna. :)

But the kittens growing up with you will connect you with the food, and realise that if they are nice to you, food and cuddles will be forthcoming.

Actually the ones that are really traumatized -- days beside dead mother -- and have to be bottlefed bond for life. I have a HUGE (like, probably 25 pounds) tomcat that I rescued from downtown Austin and he thinks he is a teensy weensy putty tat 5 years on. He likes to snuggle with me, crushing my chest in the process.

He is mean enough to kill a dog but when he comes in the house, he is convinced I am his mama and he's a baby again. LOL

They do that. Mephisto is still convinced Lucifer is his mama, and tries to nurse on him -- after almost three and a half years of unsuccessful tries!

I think they suckle for comfort. All of the kittens I bring home nurse on the male cats (who, for reasons which elude me, permit it.)
