... much as the old haircut, just with less of the 'erupting with awesome' I'd been having lately.

In the sunlight, taken by the hairdresser at my request -- yep, it's a dark aubergine, not black. Just as I wanted it.

At home, with a mere webcam, but a bonus Mephi!

I wanted something a bit wilder this time:

The bloke in the mirror who is taking my picture is the hairdresser who cut my hair. He's a bit of a wild, original, creative type who uses special scissor made from folded Japanese steel. We cheerfully talked shop about sharp and pointy things while he did my hair.

Another step back towards normalcy -- my hair has a COLOUR again!
yakalskovich: (Radical haircut)

Even though I am not a failing national economy, I got a radical haircut -- actually, in preparation for my departure to rehab* tomorrow. I don't want to have to bother with hair after sports and swimming and showers and that sort of thing. So, off with that hair!

The only odd thing is the total lack of dye -- I feel I ought to be more purple somehow. But with all the sweat and water ahead, purple dye will have to wait until after my return.-

*Link is in German, but you do get an idea what a nice kind of place they are sending me to. I have been looking at the pictures and been thinking 'Yes please! This will be good for me!'
yakalskovich: (Danger!kitty)
... because I rather spontaneously went to get my hair cut. All that wool on my head was driving me bonkers.

Now I have a new haircut, same as the old haircut, just waaaayyyy shorter.

Then the Nazgul and I went to see Harry Potter 7/II.

One of Maru's trademark silly spoilers. )

Pirates!

yakalskovich: The Nazgul and I in nun costumes at Kaltenberg posing with a bloke dressed as Jack Sparrow (Jack Sparrow makes nuns happy!)
Yesterday, I re-dyed my hair in a colour that called itself 'Vibrant Violet' but turned out rather more like a rude raspberry, but I don't mind -- I finally have some colour on my head again! The purple dye from my last time at the hairdresser's had washed out remarkably fast, and left me coppery-and-blonde in a way I didn't entirely approve of. Now it's a purply red, or a reddish purple, nicely unnatural and in-your-face, and you can still see the originally bleached fringe area as the colour is entirely, shrilly artificial there while the rest is a little darker and browner-tinged. I am content with the result.

And then the Nazgul went to see PotC4 -- in fact, the picture was taken in front of the cinema. It's that famous cinema in Munich where Rocky Horror Picture Show has been running continuously since it first opened, and it's a treasure in and of itself, old and entirely analogue, each of the theatres painted with murals about one specific movie. We weren't in the RHPS room, we were in the Deep Blue room this time. It's one of the two cinemas where they show movies in the original -- one in walking distance from where I live (this), and the other one, much larger and technically more advanced and air-conditioned and everything, in walking distance from where the Nazgul lives.

The movie itself was rather like everybody had said it was -- good fun, but with a feel of a 'packaged tour led by Captain Jack Sparrow', as Der Spiegel hat put it. Predictable, stuck in its own iconicity, providing all the right tropes at the right time. It's a amusement park ride, after all -- and people are happy to see things again they know, and see Jack Sparrow flail a lot. That's what expected, and there was lots of it, and we loved and enjoyed every minute of the 136 there were, right down to the Easter egg at the end of the credits (which one expects by now, too). But I think the movie knew what it was doing -- the thing with the fake Jack Sparrow at the beginning makes it amply clear that he's just as iconic in-universe as he is in actual reality. Forget Twilight, move over Harry Potter, the pop culture character of the 2000s that's going to survive down the times is Captain Jack Sparrow.

Now a cut with some spoilery details... )

And yes, I'm going to see it again with the Little Lady, I'm going to buy the DVD and see PotC5 if there ever is one, but that doesn't lessen the predicatbility. But medieval markets are predictable as well, and we keep going there to drink beer, listen to wannabe-medieval silliness and interesting music, and buy scraps of fur for the cats. Why shouldn't Pirates be the same? It's still fun.

New hair!

Finally, I made it to the hairdresser's again! This time, when I said I wanted something more extreme, she suggested a purple lower layer under the fringe. As you can see, it came out quite noticeably. The top layer is a rather stronger red, but that doesn't come out quite properly on this picture.

Finally, the Nazgul and I went to have our hair done again. We had found our hairdresser, Muriel, again. She's at a salon near the university now where lots of students go to have their hair cut. She did really good work on us.

Afterwards, we went to the Starbucks at the square where the demonstration had been two weeks ago, and took pictures of each other, for documentation purposes.

Here is me, with my freshly retouched Tracy-Turnblad style blonde stripes in my fringe.

And the Nazgul, with a green streak instead of a blue one this time. The lady Muriel had forgotten the pot of blue at home. Seems they're not keeping those extreme colours in the salon; they're her speciality.

In the Starbucks, people were a bit odd. To my left, there was a little high-heeled orcette trying to read a book by marking everything she had read with blue highlight marker. You could see the Nazgul's librarian heart flinching, wincing, and cringing at such a senseless sacrilege. On my right, a Japanese girl was reading and listening to music when suddenly, a very odd old man appeared and told her and me to take our stuff away, he had to sit there. "No," I said, while stowing my bag and denim vest behind me, "you don't have to, you want to." He sat, there, drinking tea and smelling slightly of used book shops, ramrod straight, with no hair, and a terribly, terribly green pair of trousers. In our usual drama coffee shop, we don't get quite that sort of terrifying dryness and oddity, or the sort of Essex girl (mutatis mutandis) that was mutilating the poor book on the other side.

We drank up, and fled.

New hair!

Well, actually it's the old hair I had before. But it's cut in a new very asymmetric style, and the light stripes in the fringe have been redone.

I lost one of my purple church glass earrings from Ljubljana recently; with this style, I can wear the remaining one on its own.-

Yesterday, the Nazgul and I went to have our hair done again, just by the way of reminding ourselves we're really girls. **grins** She had her blue streak thickened and the blue colour made more intense, and I got it recut in a slightly more snappy way. The Nazgul still said that I look extremely serious and respectable with that haircut, which wasn't quite the intention... **pout**

And then, here is a picture of my actual Urquhart mug at my work:

I had my hair bobbed properly now, and three thick blonde highlights.

The Nazgul got a blue streak, and the ends cut back by seven inches. Now everybody can see that she belongs to the dark blue side of the Force...

The Nazgul and I tend to hijack holidays we like, or even make some up from scratch, like Rasputin's Deathday, or cativersaries; and we do Easter twice, as a rule, the Western and  the Orthodox one.

Last year, the Atlanteans were here and we did Thanksgiving, so we hijacked that too and did it again this year. OMG does the Nazgul ever bake an excellent pumpkin pie!!

I am so full now; so was the Nazgul when she left, and so are the cats who first had tuna and then some lukewarm turkey; and Mephi even stole a piece of pumpkin pie afterwards.

Also, I had my hair done today. I swore off the purple, and now have some fun stripes in front.

I'm wearing the Domino Dress to work today, for no better reason that I have it, it's new, and I want to wear it, and as it's lined, it's not really compatible with a normal Munich August, but what with yesterday's torrential cloudbursts signaling the end of the world, it's cool enough to wear it. Who knows when that'll be the case again, so I put it on today.

And I didn't even make it all the way to the train station without a seriously positive case of getting The Nod. It was a small, sweet, curvy and slightly domme-ish brunette I had in fact noticed around the quarter before* for her slightly offbeat and rather interesting sense of style. She was walking across the traffic lights towards me, noticed me in that dress, did a little double take of (presumably) 'Oh wow is that -- IT IS!' and gave me a bright, friendly, wholly positive smile while we walked past each other.

Who knows, she might be a fashion pro of some sort (enough of those in Munich) who'll mark this down as 'Spotted that Beth Ditto Domino Dress in the wild'; or she might just be somebody who reads the same blogs as I do. Anyway, it was a great boost for a grey Monday morning to have my new dress approvingly recognised.-

ETA: Now with pictorial proof:

Me at my desk at the slavery, wearing the Domino Dress and grinning like a professional gingerbread horse...

* Haidhausen is a village within Munich. Falk the Metropolitan knows half the people he sees while walking around to speak to, and half of the rest to gossip about. Should I ever want to buy some nefarious substance, I can't do it at the drugstore-cum-record-shop around the corner; people know me there, and would remember. I would have to take the train into town like any village person.
