I wouldn't think that far. And it's not an undergarment but sports shorts -- which need washing when dirty just as badly.
The Nazgul assumes that blokes must be told to do that, and as the target group for football fan wear is mostly blokes, the shorts simply do that. Because they wouldn't otherwise think of it.
We once had a student worker in in my office who most certainly did need to be told. He smelled awful and his clothing probably could have walked around on its own. And nobody wanted to tell him why we didn't ask him to come back the following term.
He had some kind of neurological problem - he could not smell anything, and I guess that included his own effluvia. I don't know why his mother didn't tell him you wash your clothes occasionally whether you think they need it or not.
No. Student workers just sort of get sent by the work-study office... And he wasn't any good at office work, either. If he'd been a help, someone would've found a way to talk to him, I think. But he wasn't very good at the alphabet, and when his work had to be checked and often re-done...? He'd have been better placed in some outdoor job, I think.
Not very good at the alphabet?? I thought that was a prerequisite for being a student at all. I mean, being able to read, write, and alphabetise thing.
sadly, no. The US educational system has periodically gone through fits where teaching basics was thought to inhibit the little dears. Add that to parents who don't help with homework... Gives you an idea of why there's so much badly-written stuff out there. Some people really never learn the basics.
Yep, my friend Carolin from Lexington, KY, who teaches at some university there, is telling me the same thing. Some of them must be painfully inept, and grading is a great pain.

As if the majority of people dry clean their undergarments....
