To any of the newbies I've recently dragged in here who have been asking me how to use LJ cut: I found the FAQ document at

You can do really amazing things with that, popping in and out of a longer text at will, just as I did in the interview Mercredi did with me, or offering more pictures as I did in the post with the Lego creatures. wiebke 's LJ, and it seemed to make a lot of sense to me.
