yakalskovich: (Sixties me)
I wish i had a scanner. I just got my photos from Japan out of storage from the stripey blue boxes on top of my bookshelf -- people who have been here know which I mean.

I haven't looked at them for years, but now I feel I want to. They would make some fun picture posts, too.

If I had a scanner, that is.-

The Nazgul and I saw a very cute movie today.

It's more child-like than the last few Miyazaki movies, but does have its very adult, and very Japanese, moments. It's full of magic, as Miyazaki movies usually are, but what most impresses about the movie is the humanity of it.

But the end title song is terribly, terribly catchy, especially if you understand some Japanese. So I must warn you against clicking that link.

I just watched last night's 'Doctor Who' and really found Liz 10 amazingly awesome. She would be awesome as a charrie, too. Doctor Who one-offs work amazingly well in Milliways, see River Song, or Jenny.

But it's not apping season. So Liz 10 goes somewhere down there along with Rachel Menken and the catbus, and I continue to wait for Bridgette Dubois (who somehow got out) to be approved...

Reading [livejournal.com profile] ostro_goth's most recent notifies, Google now tells me to go to a site selling mokume-gane jewellery.

They don't realise I might just cheekily link pictures, because me need for mokume-gane is entirely virtual...

Yesterday, my friend [livejournal.com profile] nazgulwears came to our usual Sunday session of movies and cooking with a  ginormous ex-military duffel bag on her back.

When she put it down in my living room, it looked exactly as if it contained one small murder victim. The cats, naturally, were immensely intrigued by it!

See the mystery revealed! )

Afterwards, we watched 'Black Hawk Down'; and after that, the Nazgul made a very yummy South African casserole dish containing mango chutney, minced beef, onions, curry powder and raisins; I'm sure she'll post the recipe to [livejournal.com profile] collected_fudz if we wheedle nicely. In the meanwhile, as my Milli!Teja is in Team Fortress 2 being a BLU soldier (as I said, colour choice entirely unrelated to kendo) and I can't EP or tag out otherwise at the moment, I finished and posted a loooooong backstory fic I had been working on since Friday. Then, we watched 'Me And The Colonel', which the Nazgul spontaneously loved and almost missed her train for. All the while, that small murder victim was sitting in its duffel bag beside my Biedermeier cupboard...

That is not a black background, that's a transparency. You can add your own background, or whatever background the site you use him on may have...

Many of you do the Japanese thinggy as well, do you, being able to squee believably in that language and all?

My friend Stephan the [livejournal.com profile] japanologist has posted an extremely fascinating link, and as I am his link into the bloggosphere (for some reason, he doesn't get anything near the attention he deserves, so I need to repost sometimes), I repeat it here:

Why Japanese is the language for Nerds
