[livejournal.com profile] essayel wrote me a short fic/longish drabble about how 'Suti and Gil (whom we retired from Milliways when the Cast List Reboot happened) are doing in the Wizarding World nowaday...

If you know them and liked them, read the fic! It's the sort of thing I want to wrap up in, curl up with, and keep me happy when the world is being nasty or stressful. I'm just glad our charries get to carry on so happily without us.-

I just retired Asar-Suti, and asked for Ma'at to be deleted, as she somehow didn't fly at all.

As soon as Sirona is approved, I'll have to make a bunch of new 'Everybody' icons...

My mother and the Little Lady are going to visit me in about two weeks - whee!!

I shall take pictures of the Little Lady with Svava the kitten, and the cute will instantly be fatal to everybody.

I shall have to arrange plot at [livejournal.com profile] miliways_bar around that visit, but on the pro side, I can watch 'Neverending Story' with the Little Lady, and get ideas for [livejournal.com profile] _fuchur_

And we can go to Bavaria Filmtours again, and I shall have pics of Phia riding Falkor, which will be even more fatally cute. Fortresses were laid low by lesser forces than the squee that is going to generate...

I've got an interesting desk calendar at work that I got from my Ponder-ish colleague because I was idly flipping through it some weeks ago to indicate how much the phone call he was making at me bored me. So he told me to keep it.

It's from a picture agency and revels in being randomly random. That randomness so far included a pink toy bunny, a fellow with tattooed arms and wolf mask wearing a business-like short-sleeved shirt and tie in what looks like a conference room, and muscular men in white and green playing American Football.

This week now, I get this:

Every time I look at him I think how much he looks like Sooty...

I'm in a proper Geek house now. My sister and her husband have a W(ireless)LAN and a sekrit web site. So do you know how evenings are spent here?

We sat in the living room last night, tamely, Sphinx on one sofa, Markus on the second, me on the easy chair, each with their notebook computer in front of them, WLAN card blinking green, talking lightly and playing a bit with the baby in his playpen while they were poking their communities and I was having a long conversation as Asar-Suti with Bartleby at the Crackbar.

Afterwards, the computers were cleared away to go under the sofas where they live when not in use.

Very civilised life style.

...or why I arrived hellishly late for work today.

Because they have changed totally everything about the system of suburban trains in Munich, as of today, in one fell swoop!!

All the train numbers have been shuffled around, and the times, and the famed new every-ten-minutes system is only good for mornings and evenings during rush hour, when I rarely need it anyway, and OMG I am so confused!!!

In loggage format:

Yakkie: arrives at the train station as per usual.
Train Nr S5: arrives at slightly odd time, but Munich trains, you know...
Yakkie: jumps aboard S5, sits, draws out book and is lost.
Book: ...Ihlini magic...sex...big cats...people swear by Asar-Suti as matter of course...sex...Lochiel...Ihlini magic...glass-columned cavern...purkle light...the Gate is a pool in the ground...Asar-Suti!!...
Yakkie: Whoah!!! is transfixed
Train Nr S5: Fasangarten!
Yakkie: What pheasant what?? What?? By Asar-Suti, I'm not friggin' supposed to be here!! What happened?? Runs out of train and stares at utterly unfamiliar station.

And then the train back took its own sweet time to arrive, and then I had to find out which train now goes to where I am supposed to go, and then it has to come and...

Oh urgs! Underworld! I feel like visiting burnination by purkle flames on the utter morons who changed a running system in that way!

I've been taking a few pictures recently with the Metropolitan's digicam. To be quite precise, Thomas the Metropolitan has taken those of me with my newest printed t-shirt, and my neighbour Angela has taken those of me reading to Paul (who likes unicorns and whom the world needs more of, if you remember, [livejournal.com profile] schiarire), which are somehow the most Christmas-y pictures of me evah. In a good non-commercial, possibly even Abby-compatible way.

Here's a small-sized teaser of me with the t-shirt

Yakkie in Sooty!shirt

And here's a certain cup I may have been mentioning:

Wavy coffee cup

More pictures of shirt, cup and reading Silmarillion to Paul behind this cut! You know you want to look! )

I've got it now, to hold and keep and refer to, not something I might have had from a library at some stage any more!!

And I read the end first, of course, on the train to work. I was late, and got the worst time slot with all the kiddies returning from school on it, and didn't even consider joining [livejournal.com profile] childfree as I usually do on that time slot because I was so squeeing for the wrong side!!

I got the chalice right, though, in the part of "drinking the Blood of the Seker"; in the book, it's exactly how I improvised it. Forming the chalice out of the godfire itself and all that. They even call it a "goblet". heh! I smell the next nasty meta-canon pun here.

Plus, I am collecting ammunition. There are so many things [livejournal.com profile] asar_suti might set to work on [livejournal.com profile] lochiel. There's even something that might be used to rob Lochiel of potential Endless support if necessary.

On the way home, I'll read up on teaching basic Ihlini magic so Asar-Suti gets to teach [livejournal.com profile] toddbaby correctly.

Wheeee!!!

Jane Austen
Jane Austen wrote you. You are extremely aware of
the power of a single word.

Which Author's Fiction are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] xanath

Oh hah hah hah! I do quite like Jane Austen, I must admit; but sometimes I need something stronger. Something evil, perhaps? But I must admit that avoided any answers that might have led me to She Who Must Not Be Named, who is what Kris has got.

Talking of evil, I found that [livejournal.com profile] asar_suti's canon is out of print. Can anyone direct me to some sort of source where that fact can be circumvented? I would rather buy it, really truly pretty please.

And there was something else I meant to ask, but completely forgot when I saw that [livejournal.com profile] lochiel had commented and my brain went in Teh Ebil mode. Might ETA later when I remember.

ETA: And now I have it again! When I looked in vain for the last two Cheysuli books (any, really), I came upon "The Art of Discworld".

There is a view of Bonk in there!!!!

It's in the upper left-hand corner of the violet double page that has the vampires as well. Erm, [livejournal.com profile] litsares, do you think you could put it on the scanner once more? I need to truly immerse myself in that picture, but that's no reason to buy a complete book

And the houses look exactly as I pictured Lajos's and Beth's house to look like! But the two castles are on the same side of the town. And the bridge...

Bonk!! Bonk!! I finally get to see canon!Bonk!!

Heh! DeepestSender was good today and immediately brought me the LJ account I wanted. That is noteworthy.

I just googled for "Asar-Suti", and found one rather informative if brief descpription in French. His blood has healing powers? Hmmm...

And as dear [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_ has proved that classical music is very conducive to evil, and celli are especially evil (being a Conspiracy for World Domination and all that), here is a evil piece of music: 13 MB worth of baroque music played by 12 celli!

ETA: The Download had been gone, or exceeded itself somehow; the link is now amended and works again, so better get it while it's hot, dear [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_

The concert of the amateur orchestra [livejournal.com profile] nazgul_nr_5 plays cello in wasn't nearly as bad as I was warned to expect! Actually, it was quite good. The violins were off to a weak start, but the moment the oboe soloist began to play, they suddenly found their feet and kept them - apart from one truly horrorful moment at the end of the slow movement of that Haydn piano concerto they did as the second piece; that was so bad I felt like running out of the hall for a moment. But then the movement was over, there was a short moment where everybody took a deep breath, and the violins miraculously recovered again. The piano soloist was a bit too young, shy and bland to bang properly where she should have, though.

The second part of the concert, some symphony by a totally unknown contemporary of Mozart (they have a new one each time; I half-jokingly suspect the conductor sekritly writes them himself and invents the composers), I spent staring pleasantly into space and plotting evil for [livejournal.com profile] asar_suti, a Dark God Of Awesome Power I have consented to temporarily RP at the Crackbar. But fear not - I have not really succumbed! He'll be over before Christmas.

I was a bit disappointed, even, when the symphony suddenly broke into a blaring finale and fell silent, and there weren't any encores at all; I wasn't through with Asar-Suti yet.-
