Spoilers )

Ahhhhhh my dear beloved psiTunes frees me from the 'Turn Turn Turn' by bringing up 'Utgard' right away -- that is an even worse earworm!

Am now current on 'True Blood', and eagerly awaiting the season finale, which will happen -- within the week, I guess?

ETA: Franklin Mott, on the other hand, is stark staring raving mad...

Everybody I'd need at work today is on vacation or sick, so after some quick calling around, I decided to give myself a four-day weekend again at long last.

So I finished the first season of 'True Blood' last night and now start on the second. I have also stuff to beta-read, windows to wash, and some errands to run, but I think I'll have some late breakfast with vampires first...

'True Blood' is funny!! It is really, really funny. From the people bringing out the beer and the doilies at a crime scene, through Sookie's moron brother, to where she says 'Vampires aren't supposed to go 'Uh-oh'', this is really laugh-out-loud funny.

And it's almost Pratchettian in its angle of 'jokes about fictional beings as real social commentary'. I approve of that!

If you ladies had told me that it was funny, though, I'd have started watching much earlier...

[livejournal.com profile] essayel and [livejournal.com profile] carolinw independently both told me that 'True Blood' was good, so I decided to give it a try.

Starting meekly with season 1, episode 1 and not jumping right to an episode with James Frain in.

So far, I like it. It's funny!! I didn't expect it to be funny, from what I had heard, but it is, squeal-out-loud, scare-the-cats kind of funny, at that! The way Sookie laughed when the vampire said his name was Bill. Or Tara telling that dick-led bloke, "You're a gigantic parody of yourself, and you don't even know it!"

But then, it's from the same creator as 'Six Feet Under'. So yes, it's probably going to be worth my time...

I'm giving it a tag, too, as to not to have to seek out and re-tag posts later. It feels like that kind of a series.-
