Varia - with lotsa linkses!

Several interesting things come together today to make my brain whizz happily:

• There's a lake in southern Bavaria, my TV informs me, which contains purple sulphuric bacteria. Sulphur. Purple. First sensible connetion between possible volcanic activity (sulphur, eh?) and the colour purple. With that, a purple volcanic deity sounds a tiny bit less outrageous.
• In the same vein, I found a lovely naughty faun picture on a nice web site with nekkid blokes that celticangel76 and essayel discovered today. The photographer is called Vance, and essayel is better known to some of you as gil_whimple-mun...
• tahira_saki pointed me to a fascinating book which arrived today and which I am now reading on the side while threading in Morningstar Manor
• Also, 'We Are Pope'? 'You Are Germany'? We are all patriotic again now in a good way? Hah, we are Asterix!! Resisting the evil empire! WalMart is withdrawing from the German market and selling its superstores to the Metro chain of, well, other superstores. Still, that doesn't change the fact that we're the only place worldwide where WalMart has failed! Bwahahahaahaaa!!

Really. I took three pictures of the Little Lady last year that remind me a lot of that series.

I should post those in a more visible place, add a critical comment about the Shrub, and then draw some slavering neoconnard bloggers on to me...
