As of today, LJ seems to have installed an update that lets you see how many tags are on a thread, which is bloody useful when hosting a 'zilla that has folded.

For once, they had a good idea and didn't make much of a fanfare about it.-

I friended a few people today (mostly Milliwaysers in the Duet plot), and took an interest from the list of each, as I do when I friend people to interact, not just read their entries.

Looking at the list of interests as it is now on my profile, I find that I have four orphan interests:

  • cute vampire/human couples
  • dmitri pavlovich romanov
  • poking australians
  • tree-hugging liberals for teja

Anybody interested in adopting an interest so they turn up as linked on the list? Well, not Dmitri, probably; nobody needs to adopt Dmitri. But the rest? Anybody for poking Australians, anybody?

Also, GIP! I found the picture at the German site 'Bestatterweblog' (Undertaker's Web Log), and [livejournal.com profile] essayel turned it into an icon! Baby hedgehog with huuuuuge ears FTW!

Somebody anonymously gave me two months of paid time for this my mun journal! Yay two months of no annoying advertising (bye-bye Muslim brides!!) and two months of editing comments when I futzed the HTML in a Daily Entertainment answer again.-

Thank you ever so much, dear anonymouse, for giving that to me!
yakalskovich: (Medieval)
Okay, question to the flist: does anybody know where I can complain to LJ about some specific advertising? I AM willing to see ads instead of paying for my account, but enough with the Muslim Brides and the weight loss ads already.

I find both deeply offensive, for different reasons, and need to tell LJ that I do! not!! want!!!

The advertising is especially targeted, so there must be a way of de-target that offensive drivel away from me!

I have two invite codes for Dreamwidth: who wants them?

Everybody is so mean to me. Life is mean! Lucifer held me down and washed my face again, and then he gobbled up all the little bits of sausage the human was giving him. He is such a dog! I don't eat from human fingers. That is ewww! I like my food on the floor or in a bowl, like a proper cat.

And now Lucifer is smarming up to the human again, but she doesn't have any sausage or cheese on her table any more, only the stinky icky black stuff humans like so much. So no more nice fudz, not even for stupid Lucifer, that dog! It's so mean she eats all the nice human fudz and makes us eat kibble kibble kibble kibble day in day out.

The other day the humans sat down at the kitchen table with bowls of really nice-smelling fudz and ate that and didn't even bother filling our special bowls! Even smarmy Lucifer was offended and stared at the humans, but they only laughed at us! Now he got to see how mean the humans really are.

At least the other human made the UFO appear again. She is really good that way. I like the UFO, I can watch it for hours. Lucifer pretends to be bored by it. He curls up and goes to sleep because chasing UFOs is only for over-imaginative kittens. Yeah, whatever.

Life is so mean when you're a small black cat.

Yay I am on Dreamwidth, too, now! [personal profile] innerbrat gave me an invite (and another one, when the first had expired -- thanks!!), and now, I am here and trying to figure out where this is going.

Much crossposting will happen at first, I think.-

For the LJ folks: I am [personal profile] yakalskovich there, too, for great non-confusion: please do add me, and I will add you back!

... and another of my favourites has found his way here! [livejournal.com profile] mkeegan is an Autralian who writes gay genre novels -- action, SF, fantasy, historical -- with one important point: story comes first. They are rather mainstreamy stories in their genres, but with gay protagonists. And he plots and writes damn gripping stories!! I have been reading what I could lay my hands on since the late 1980s and that Jamaican story, 'Ice, Wind and Fire'...

For example -- my personal favourite is 'Storm Tide', which is simply good a old-fashioned action yarn! It'se about two blokes that get embroiled in illegal goings-on off the Australian coast while on a boattrip to save their relationship which is a bit on the rocks. It takes place within 24 hours, includes the catching of modern-day pirates operating out of Papua New Guinea, and does not let up for one second -- there is action every moment, the narrative does never take a break! And of course all the danger reminds them why they come first to each other so they decide to stay together -- but they also catch the criminals, get help from a tough female merchant captain, and generally go through an action story that could be a solid Hollywood movie from the go -- apart from the protagonists being gay.

I think Mel Keegan lost his publisher when Gay Men's Press went belly-up in the UK; dunno when they did that, but I remember that I tried ordering the one about the crusades from Amazon.de and finally being told that I couldn't get it any more because of blah; that must have been when the publisher folded. Mel Keegan, though, seems to have found alternative ways of publishing stuff and seems to be writing at full tilt still.

Go, look at his LJ, poke his links, read his stuff, enjoy the stories.-

I watched 'The Importance of Being Earnest' with the Nazgul today.

There were those two young women, Gwendolen and Cecily. They both had diaries and lived very much through them, wriiting even while things happened, and cultivating a rich fantasy life in them. And when they became friends or co-conspirators, they sat and read each other's diaries.

It reminded me of LJ, of friending, and of fanfic (the way Cecily dreamed of knights) - there is nothing new under the sun.

We use those new technologies just to be human in, as always.

'Heuriger GrĂ¼ner Veltliner' is a very nice wine, this year as it was last year...

Whee!

Milliways is love

That is all.-

ETA: Link is fixed; thanks, [livejournal.com profile] c_carol. And this is post no. 300 in my LJ, I saw when fixing. Oh, whoah!
yakalskovich: (Blacherniotissa)
Hey you, there's 42 of you now! Life, the Universe, and Everything on my flist. That explains the Breakfast at Milliways, huh?
yakalskovich: (Blacherniotissa)
More and more, the entries on my f-list are f-locked; I need to log in as myself to see what is going on. Even I have been known to post entries f-locked to my "Dyskworlders" friends' group when I didn't want to spam everybody with [livejournal.com profile] discworld_rpg related stuff, or was being sentimental, or both.

But somehow, everybody has lately started doing that. I know about some people, but generally I wonder whether that is just something goiong around memtically, like a mental cold, or what people really are afraid of.

Also, there is that one point where the concept of "private tags" we're using at the Discworld RPG is superior to the actual f-locking: there, you can take not only whole posts, but also comments and even parts of comments private and hide them from all the other characters (while the muns read on all the more avidly). On actual LJ, I need to know somebody's email address and mail them.
yakalskovich: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] cob_web guessed right as well as to what interests I took from her list, and so she gets a drabble as well. She wanted a happy drabble, and left the rest to me. It turned into a happy drabble about a character supposed to be unhappy.

Unhappy Childhood )

The offer is still open - get them while they're hot! The longer it takes, the more likely I am to forget which I took from whom.
yakalskovich: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] woelfle guessed both the interests I ganked from her list right, and now gets the promised drabble: Ben Hur slash, yay!

Especially for Yap Zer Howlingwolf - here you are, m'dear )

And the offer still stands: whoever guesses what interests I ganked from them, and I still happen to remember whether that was right (that's called a Game of Chance, or Gambling), wins a drabble of their choice.
yakalskovich: (The Princess' typist in RW)
I am bored because I'm at work, and the imput for what I'm supposed to be doing doesn't materialise because the pinscher is busy having hissy fits about things that can't be changed any more.

So, to relieve my boredom, I went through the list of everybody who has me friended in my profile, and ganked exactly two of their interests from them that I didn't have on my own list but was honestly interested in.

With the one exception of [livejournal.com profile] polaris_starz: she had so many interests that, erm, interested me, that I ganked three. And [livejournal.com profile] tekalynn, who unfortunately doesn't list one single interest, even though I know she's interested in many, erm, interesting things.

Then I added the names of all the actors/-tresses that are on my RPage icons and that I didn't yet have; I had Alan Rickman whom I use on [livejournal.com profile] father_grigori's icons, of course. I was not astonished that I'm the very first person to list Ameet Chana (on the icons for [livejournal.com profile] pteppicymon) among my interests, but I was rather astonished that there was several communities interested in or even dedicated to James D'Arcy (Lt. Pullings from "Master and Commander"; [livejournal.com profile] schiarire electronically turned his hair yellow for me, and I'm using him on the icons for [livejournal.com profile] beth_metatronim). So I joined one of the James D'Arcy communities that is called [livejournal.com profile] masters_mate.

I didn't make a list of what I ganked from whom, so I can't set up a formal game of people recognising which interests I took from their list, and offering drabbles of choice to everybody who identifies both their interests correctly. However, I do remember some - if you identify an interest that I got from your list, and I happen to remember that I indeed took it from you, you do get to give me a subject for a drabble, and I will write it presto pronto. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] woelfle, even Ben Hur slash...

I'm approaching hours of the night again that reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] tammaiya's phases at the moment.

Will I sleep at all before morning session gets underway?  [livejournal.com profile] skazz is there already anyway.

I just discovered that on the remote control  for my TV, there is a button that says "Magic"

If I press it, nothing whatsoever happens. Perhaps I am just not magical.

This is the day, the remarkable day, that I thought would never come, when pigs flew and - the Nazgul got an LJ!!!
